Echoes of the Enslaved is an annual commemoration highlighting local archaeological discoveries and exploring the lasting legacy of chattel slavery in Prince George’s County. Hosted at Concord Historic Site, a former tobacco plantation and now a place honoring African American resilience and legacy, we’ll gather under the harvest moon to reflect on the skills, traditions, and relationships that helped African Americans navigate and connect with the natural environment.
The evening will feature hands-on activities, meaningful conversations, and a panel centered on Black history, land stewardship, and community legacy. The Trail Forge will be joining the gathering with a community drum circle and a hands-on clay workshop, creating space to connect with the land through rhythm, creativity, and shared ancestral traditions.
